Installing Dark Skins for GIMP in Ubuntu

Editing Images in Gimp using Default Theme can be difficult especially when working with Color Curves, Levels and Saturation. The great news is that a Theme Package exist and contains 15 Themes. My favourite one is Tactile. The package is called "Better GTK2 Themes for GIMP 2.8.zip"

How do you install these Themes?

Firt step is to download the package ( I found it on Youtube ):

http://www.mediafire.com/file/omt65nuszafl9f1/Better+GTK2+Themes+for+GIMP+2.8.zip

After download if you unzip the ZIP package and look inside you will see 15 folders:

tree -L 1

Acid
AeroIon
Afterhours
Chocolate
Cillop-Midnite
CreamyAcid
Doom3
GreenHeart
Lastend
London Smoke
Metal'n'Stone
Prudence
PrudenceDark
StoneWashed
Tactile

Next step is to find where Gimp is installed and for Locating Gimp Theme Folder you have to use:

locate gimp
# with will print out this folder
/usr/share/gimp/2.0/themes/

# as alternative you can use also:
whereis gimp
/usr/share/gimp

So, now assuming that we are in Folder from extracted zip file we just have to copy the Theme folders in Gimp theme folder with copy command:

cp -r . /usr/share/gimp/2.0/themes/

That was all! Enjoy working with your Gimp now :)
